Week one is complete. We started rehearsals for Tony Kushner's Intelligent Homosexual's Guide... Tony has made some rewrites and cuts to the play and tomorrow we start working through the play.  The conversation around the table has not only been amazing and educational, but very fruitful.  So the question is always, how does he know sooooo much.  It's amazing to listen to him talk.  Tony Taccone asked Tony Kushner how the idea came to him for this play, and we found out that, Kushner was in the process of writing LINCOLN, when he started working on it for the Guthrie.  That is a lot of brain space to spend in both of these worlds.  Such beauty in this play.  Not to be missed.

The Fam Reading Series

The first series of readings is now complete.  On the first three Mondays in October, Lizan Mitchell and I curated a series of readings which included, The Glass Menagerie, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, and Proof.

We chose these plays because they were four handers with an intense family dynamic.  We chose to have all three plays read by actors of color.  We were extremely interested in how the words of Williams, Albee, and Auburn resonated through the voices of these actors.  We did not change any of the text.  This proved very fruitful to us.  Therefore we will continue with another series beginning in January.  Check back in for details mid December.

Shakespeare Prep

I have launched a set of classes focused on building a stronger relationship with Shakespeare text.  I have come to realize that there is a disconnect for many actors and the language of Shakespeare.  I have also found that actors are losing out on opportunities to audition for and work on Shakespeare's plays because they just don't get IT and have no desire to find out more about IT.  The IT I am referring to is the potential of seeing oneself in the works of Shakespeare and being comfortable using his words.

If this is how you feel...please visit my website. www.tyronemitchellhenderson.com take a look at my class breakdown and let me help you develop a lasting relationship with Shakespeare.
